Hi everyone and welcome to the Bartlett Ninth Grade Academy!  My name is Mr. Paul Lindsay, and I have had the privilege of teaching Visual Art 1 for the past 10 years here and at BHS.  I am proud to be a part of this great community, and I look forward to helping my students in any way I can.

Because our current situation with the pandemic, communication is essential.  All students are required to check their email daily and respond when appropriate.  School email accounts can be accessed from most computers and smart phones through a web browser.  If any student or parent needs to contact me with questions or concerns, my email is  I check my email frequently and will respond in a timely manner.

This year, all teachers will be using Canvas for posting online content, and I will be using it to post my assignments and agendas.  I use Edgenuity for written work and PowerSchool to post grades.  Please check the agenda to get a snapshot of what you will be doing each day.  The agenda is also posted on this page to the right.  You can access both Canvas and Edgenuity from Clever as follows:

1.  Go to

2.  Click on the “log in as student” button at the top right of the screen.

3.  Make sure the district is set to Bartlett City Schools.

4.  Enter the student’s username and password, both of which is the student’s PowerSchool number.

5.  Click on the icon for the app you need.

What we will be doing throughout the year is working with the elements of design (line, shape, value, color, texture, space) and the principles of design (unity, emphasis, contrast, pattern, balance, movement/rhythm).  Most of the art projects will mainly be done with one or more of the following: graphite, drawing paper, black Sharpies, colored pencil, colored markers, watercolor, tempera paint, construction paper, and student laptops.  My assignments are geared towards a variety of abilities, so our students only need to try hard and do their best to be successful.

I charge a $20 art fee that goes to the supplies used in the classroom in which is required of all students.  I do this for two reasons: 1) Parents and students don't have to hunt down a long list of art supplies for the class and wonder if they got the right thing, and 2) I can get the art supplies way cheaper with an educator and/or bulk discount.  Please use the link below to pay online, which will be available until August 30th.  Thank you for your help on this!

I look forward to working with you all this year!
