Orchestra McAlister's Night

Please come out and join us at the McAlister's by Wolfchase to help raise money to support the orchestra. We will be there from 5 - 7 on Thursday, 12/11. Hope to see everyone there!

December 2 Concert

Good job last night, everyone! I saw all of you playing parts that you previously believed were too hard. We will continue to focus on building technique and level of execution. I'm excited about how you will sound by the end of the year!

All West Results

First, good job to everyone who showed up and auditioned. The auditions were pretty tough this year.

Here are the students who were accepted:

Alex Gallagher - Viola 4
Jackson Walker - Cello 9
Andre Brumfield - Cello 10

11 - 12 Full Orchestra
Amenah Hunter - Violin I - 13
Ibrahim Kamara - Violin II - 9

Congratulations to everyone who made it!!!

I have provided links to where you can listen to some the music for our next concert. I have only been able to get to the ones that can be found through our school firewall.

Remind Reminder

I have set up a remind account for the orchestra. There are a couple of ways to get to it.

The easiest way is to download the remind app and enter @BAorch1st (9th grade), @BHSgtr7th (Guitar 1), or @BHSorch6th (HS orchestra) in the class code.

You can also text @BAorch1st, @BHSgtr7th, or @BHSorch6th to 434 260 8884 to be added to the class group (you must still download the app).

You can receive information via email by sending a blank email to [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected].

Please take a minute or two and sign up for this so that I can send important information to all students and parents.

All West Excerpts

I have uploaded the All West excerpts for the 2014 - 2015 auditions. Please see the appropriate pdf for your copy.

Music and Links Page

I have copied Treasure for everyone. Make sure that you get your part tomorrow. Also, check out the Advanced Orchestra link that I put up. If you want updates about our after school group, subscribe to that page.

Expressive Techniques for Orchestra

Parents and students, the music store near the school, Revolve, should have some of our desired textbook in stock by the end of this week or the beginning of next week. We will begin using it daily no later than Wednesday of next week. Please have the book by then.

Also a reminder, orchestra fees and handbook confirmations are due by August 15. Please refer to the Orchestra Handbook for details or email me if you have questions.
